ReplyDeleteAnd do give links to the examples you are suggesting. Not everybody is familiar with what you are proposing.
hi Isamar.
ReplyDeleteHotel in relations to the East River will be fantastic if you can take advantage of the site condition. I would love to hear what potential site you have in mind when you get a chance.
I believe "Exprerience" is also the most important thing in your project. How you can engage the exclusive hotel guest but also mix the general public can be another aspect you may want to investigate. In parallel to your architectural proposal, the interiors are as important design elements. What will the hotel guest experience from their rooms? The restaurant and bars also will be a special experience that cannot be attained elsewhere.
Couple of projects come to mind. Marina Bay Sands at Singapore. This hotel can be a good clue to how your #5 point can be incorporated.
Standard Hotel by the High Line is also convenient for you to visit. The bar at the upper floor is quite a scene. My personal favorite, their windowed toilet and you can see the northern Manhattan skyline and High Line from above.
Looking forward to your processes and great project.
Hello Isamar,
ReplyDeleteI think it is a good opportunity to connect people with the cityscape using the program of Hotel. However, there could be elements in the program that can enhance the public interaction by adding community programs like performance amphitheatres (withcoastline backdrop) or semi open cafes accessible to general public.
Since you want to give "experience" of being on the cruise or being surrounded by water kind of feeling, I suggest you look at some of Geoffery Bawa hotels in Sri Lanka, which are mainly luxury hotels located on the sea or lagoons or rivers. He uses landscape and nature in an excellent manner to merge into the hotel spaces, frames the scenic views in order for the user to experience the site and beauty of nature in a very dramatic way. Some examples are lighthouse hotel in galle, club villa in bentota and lagoon hotel in negombo. These are excellent examples of luxury hotels which let the nature and site dominate over built structures.
