I created a mass of my building on the Manhattan Site.
My masses are shifted to create an accordion or domino effect. I started to play with how big my pathway should be. I created a pathway that was 5 ft wide and saw it was too small.
Next, i made bigger openings but felt it was too large and discovered that i can place guests rooms around the pathway. The blue represents potential window ideas.
Then, i felt uncomfortable with the sharp edges my masses were creating, so i tried to apply a curved angle.
In conclusion, i have to figure out how big my pathway is going to be. To do this i would have to apply room dimensions and figure out how much space is left over.
The form is not so much of an issue yet, and I have no problem with your accordion effect. It is nice to see your treatment of the sharp edges and hope to see more development on that. And how will that gesture start to influence the other factors of the form will be interesting.
ReplyDeleteWhat we would need to see now, in addition to your developed massing, is to incorporate the massing of your site building and look at their relationships.
You mentioned that this is at Manhattan site, so I wonder how your applied glass relates to the site. What experience will the user have in the program? and understanding that it is by the river, I am not convinced if there is a relationship with the nature.
I hope we can see such studies on your next updates. Keep on going with your studies and frequently update as much as possible.
